Faculty are responsible for the quality of the educational program.
1.
Teach a broad range of Biology courses including, but not limited to microbiology, anatomy and physiology.
2.
Teach classes (Traditional, Hybrid, and Online) in developmental and General Biology on both the Rocky Mount and Tarboro campuses during the day and at least one night class.
3.
Inform students via syllabi concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
4.
Teach all courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction.
5.
Provide class instruction in accordance with established course outlines and stated objectives of the course.
6.
Enforce academic policy and procedures at all times, and comply with institutional rules and regulations.
7.
Maintain complete course and student records, reports, and forms.
8.
Assume other necessary responsibilities and perform additional tasks as assigned by the chair, department dean, chief instructional officer, or president, in carrying out the mission of the department, division, and college.
9.
Assume responsibility for laboratory/classroom preparation, including maintenance and cleanup, and recommend, as necessary, appropriate laboratory supplies and equipment.
10.
Accurately maintain the necessary attendance, scholastic and student records, and submit them according to Departmental, Divisional, and Institutional Policy and published deadlines.
11.
Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations, and promptly return them to students.
12.
Post and maintain required office hours in accordance with the prevailing policy.
13.
Participate in faculty discussions on curriculum, teaching-learning techniques, teaching materials and assessment.
14.
Participate on departmental, divisional, and campus committees.
Develop and revise courses in the discipline.
15.
Schedule may include evening or weekend hours as part of contract assignment.
16.
Performing other related duties as assigned by the College.
Instructor must meet all SACSCOC faculty credentials for this position.
Master of Science in Biology or related field.
If Master of Science is in related field, at least 18 graduate hours in BIO required.

Three to five years' experience teaching college-level Biology a plus.
Ability to use technology and online ancillaries a plus.
Community college teaching experience preferred.
Teaching experience in both traditional instruction, distance education, or hybrid, preferred.
Experience teaching microbiology, anatomy, and physiology.
Experience with curriculum review and assessment of outcomes.
Experience with classroom technologies (e.
g.
, Colleague, WebAdvisor, Moodle, Self-Service, Blackboard).
Recommended Skills Anatomy Biology Distance Education Maintenance Microbiology Physiology Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
